When I was asked to provide a biography for this website, I labored. Oh, did I labor. It's very uncomfortable somehow to tell of your own talents. I thought of asking someone who knows me to write it, but who knows me better than myself? My horse maybe, but he doesn't talk much. I guess since the task falls to me I will just tell it like it is. Here we go...
My talent, if you want to label it as such, has been borne solely out of one thing- my attraction to beauty and symmetry. As far back as I can remember I have had an eye for detail and balance but never could find the perfect outlet until I stumbled into photography. I could capture the beauty I saw in ordinary things and if I added the right lighting, others could see it too. Amazing! I became fascinated with anything highlighted by light or shadows. I found that everything in God's creation has the ability to exhibit uniqueness and beauty if you take the time to find the right angle and lighting. The addition of equine inspiration to my life seemed to bring me full circle. Horses are the very essence of traits we all inspire to have- patience, grace, strength, beauty, purity of intent. When I photograph someone with a horse, that person is better in that moment than they were before. A horse does that to you. It's impossible to be in their presence without absorbing the strength and emotion radiating from them. I like to think that I have captured that moment with my camera. I hope that you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. The captions were thoughtful and appropriate to each situation and each wonderful pairing of human and equine.
